About us

Meet Rhys and Emma, the pair behind the wines.

Our team

Vallée du Venom is Rhys and Emma Parker and their ‘Urban Micro Winery’ in Dunsborough, Western Australia. The winery is located in the north of the world renowned Margaret River Wine Region.

Rhys Parker

Rhys Parker

Winemaker Rhys, originally trading as an Environmental Scientist after graduating from UWA in 2007, saw the light in 2015 and convinced Emma to move to Margies to surf more, drink good wine and start a new career. After completing the post graduate diploma in wine science from Curtin, it was years of cleaning tanks and filling barrels at some big name wineries before the Urban Micro Winery concept was born. Working for minimum wage to make rich people richer simply did not sit well for Rhys – much like blending up 100 thousand litre batches of cheap white wine. He did learn a thing or two from the experts though and brings big winery experience and modern science to the cellar.

Emma Parker

Emma Parker

Emma is the other half of Vallée Du Venom. With a background in Art and Fashion it’s been a steep learning curve into the winemaking world. Emma is the chief Cellar Hand by day and Sales, Marketing, Administration and Social Media Manager by night. Emma provides the classy attention to detail that Vallée Du Venom strives for as a brand, all whilst getting her hands dirty in every aspect of the winemaking process, from start to finish like Rhys.

Our story

With access to premium vineyards and reliable maritime climate vintages, Vallée du Venom produce small batch, terroir driven wines centered around a minimal intervention ethos.

Without the benefit of inheriting vineyards or a winery nor wishing to relinquish control to a third party winemaking facility, Rhys and Emma started from scratch. Converting a bare, concrete warehouse in the heart of Dunsy into a winery, the Urban Micro Winery concept was as much as a necessity as it was a vision.

Our purpose

Vallée du Venom produce small batch, terroir driven wines centred around a minimal intervention ethos.

Single Vineyard, terroir driven wines.

Minimal intervention

We let the grapes do the talking…less additions, no filtration, no fining.

High Quality

Handpicked and Organic where ever possible, always vegan friendly.

Picked, crushed, fermented, pressed, bottled and labelled – all by hand, start to finish in our winery.

Only The Best Quality

From handpicking, to shovelling grapes into a crusher and waxing thousands of bottles, everything at Vallée du Venom is done by hand. The Urban Micro Winery gives them the opportunity to have complete control over the winemaking process, working with their favourite growers to harvest the best parcels of grapes, all the way through to bottling and labelling the finished product.

What’s in the name? Vallée du Venom came from Emma and Rhys’ love for France and their connection to the French Alps, where they invested in a small ski apartment in the Trois Vallée (obviously this has since been sold to buy shiny steel tanks and their beloved wine press!). Inspired by the elegance and subtlety of French wines, their wines aim to let the fruit shine through with gentle extraction techniques and minimal additions.

And Venom? Well that was just a bit of fun and looked cool in graffiti. Like wine, not to be taken too seriously!
